Civil War

As the first program Peter ever provided, the hardest part of presenting it is leaving half of his stuff home, because he would need a tractor-trailer to carry it all. The program will present uniforms and equipment from the beginning of the war when everyone was going to be dressed in coatees with tails to the cotton trash uniforms and shottie cloth of the late war blue and gray. As always, Peter will not discuss the Civil War without his display of slave items since it is a very important part of the story.

There are lots of stories and lots of directions that the program can take, so please feel free to let Peter know of any special requests prior to arriving at your school.

As always, there will be plenty of stories, hands on time, and some stuff to try on. Since Peter is seen on the Georgia Stories program telling these stories, it is a great time to encourage the students from someone who has been on television, movies, and many historic sites. “Pursue your education and reach for the stars.”
